Demographic Change and Non-Profit Planning Regional Workshops
Half-day workshops for senior staff and board members responsible for organizational planning in health and social services non-profit organizations are being held in Brandon (March 16), Thompson (March 17), and Winnipeg (March 22).
Demographic changes such as shifting populations, increasing vacancies and looming retirements impact non-profit organizations in terms of both client-base and staffing. What programs and services will be needed in the near future and how will these be delivered? This question will be the focus of three regional workshops to prepare non-profit organizations to meet staffing challenges and serve the future needs of their communities. The half-day workshops for senior staff and board members responsible for organizational planning in health and social services non-profit organizations are being held in Brandon (March 16), Thompson (March 17), and Winnipeg (March 22).
Presenters
Wilf Falk and Jacqueline Storen, of the Manitoba Bureau of Statistics, will present key demographic trends non-profits should be paying attention to and Sid Frankel of the MNFPO will present the key findings of the MFNPO’s recent study on the Non-Profit Health & Social Services Sectors in Manitoba.
Workshop facilitator, Chris Hutchison-Hounsell, CHRP, will provide participants with opportunities to ask questions and put the data together with their knowledge of the practical challenges currently facing their organizations and identify potential solutions moving into the future. Participants can expect to:
· Work with demographic data specific to their geographical area.
· Start applying the health and social services labour market research to the planning process within their organizations.
· Gain understanding of the wider context in which their organizations function.
· Gain a clearer picture of potential staffing needs and labour supply for their organizations.
· Create strategies for addressing current and future staffing needs in their organizations.
The workshops are the latest initiative of the Labour Market Information Working Group of the MNFPO and build on the work done in the Labour Market Cafes held in ten locations in November 2010.
